Forest Troop is an independent documentary production company based in Cyprus and Greece.

The company is a home for documentary professionals, visual storytellers, photographers and editors from around the world who wish to create original, inspirational cinematic narratives with a higher purpose, breaking away from the roads already traveled, leading paths to innovation.

2018/2019 | “Stiletto Murders” – in development

2017 | “The Snake Charmer” (48/56’) is a documentary film co-produced with Anemon Productions, Al Jazeera International and ERT, in association with SVT, YLE and DR. The film was received the Youth Jury Award at the Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival (2017) while it was nominated for the Prix Europa Award (TV Documentary, 2017).

2014 | ‘Kismet’ (48/52/66’) was co-produced with the European producer Anemon Productions, Al Jazeera International and ARTE. It has received funding from SVT, YLE, RTS, RAI and Channel 8 while secured the support of the Greek, Croatian and Bulgarian Film Centers.

‘Kismet’ was nominated for the Best Mid-Length Documentary film Award on 2013 and for the Prix Europa Award on 2014.

2011/2012 | The web documentary Prism GR2011 (www.theprism.tv) and the film ‘Krisis’ (72’), have been selected and screened in many international festivals (HotDocs, LIDF, FIPA, Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival, See Festival 2012, It’s All True 2012/ Estonia TV, YLE Channel, ERT).

The Prism was a finalist in the Pictures of the Year International Awards 2012, in the Documentary Project of the Year category.

STILETO MURDERS

From the Northern villages of Trentino, to the mafia controlled island of Sicily, “Stiletto Murders” will dive into the misogynous culture of Italy and try to understand the macho mentality that arms the hands of husbands, ex-partners, boyfriends, and leads them to murder.

THE SNAKE CHARMER

The Snake Charmer follows Bollywood star Aamir Khan on a journey through India’s television and film industry, as he attempts to change the way Indians perceive and treat women.

Krisis is a feature documentary film that fuses the material collected during the filming of The Prism GR2011. It is the synthesis of the different stories narrated in The Prism GR2011, into a feature documentary that explores how Greece and the Greeks are experiencing the crisis, looking into the hearts of the people.

ABOUT

Nina Maria Paschalidou

Nina-Maria Paschalidou is a documentary director and producer.

Her web documentary The Prism GR2011, www.theprism.tv, a multimedia project and film about the Greek Crisis was an Official Selection at IDFA 2011, a Finalist at the Picture of the Year Awards 2012, and won a Webby Award in 2012.

Her film “Kismet“, co-produced with Al Jazeera and ARTE and other networks nominated for the IDFA 2013 Best Mid-Length Documentary Award, the PRIX EUROPA 2014 Best European Intercultural Television Programme Award (TV IRIS) and the VIII Ahmed Attia Award 2014 at Medimed.

Her last film “The Snake Charmer”, co-produced with Al Jazeera and ERT received the Youth Jury Award at the Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival (2017) and it was nominated for the Prix Europa Award (TV Documentary, 2017).

She received her undergraduate degree in Mass Communications at Boston University and her graduate degree in Entrepreneurship at Bentley University. She has studied film at La Femis in Paris and at NYU in New York. She is also a Fellow in the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, in Washington D.C.
